ShutEye - The Application That Records You at Night!

In the last several...well years, I have not been able to sleep well. I've gained more weight, had severe stress due to bad neighbors, struggled financially due to COVID19 impacting one of my jobs, and even my blog took a nose dive like many others because companies are forced to shut down. Just like millions of other people in the world stress makes me think and worry once my head hits the pillow. I was scrolling through Facebook one night in bed (who doesn't, right?) and saw this advertisement for ShutEye. You get a 7-day trial period and I thought, what the heck? Let's give it a shot!

After signing up for the trial I started checking out the main page. I love how there are daily insights that give you the opportunity to learn more about sleep patterns. On the same page, are chants, mantras, music, white noise/nature sounds, and more. I used the "Thunderstorm" sound to fall asleep the first couple of nights and let me tell you...when you don't have to worry about a 67 pound chocolate lab turning into a lap dog due to thunder and lightning, and instead just relaxing listening to the rain, it's  WONDERFUL!

Now here's where I get critical as obviously, I want this application to assist me correctly. This application assumes that I'm asleep as soon as I click that little blue moon at the bottom and tell it, "I'm going to sleep". The moment it begins recording it seems to think we're just knocked out. I only have one friend who can do that, haha. But it does seem to handle the deep sleep, light sleep, etc very well. I do remember waking up at the times it's showing. Boy, do you see my snore length? Ugh boy do I hate snoring.

Hah, their version of "talking in sleep" is me just letting out a groan here and there. The snoring? Yes, definitely that's me snoring and unfortunately in the Winter I am a loud snorer. Our heater has to run more frequently, it dries out the sinuse and blam, you've got snores! I'd use the humidifier, but that's a whole other ball of issues. Anyway, the "Noise" part I actually was grateful to have. My ceiling fan after the heater has been blowing on it makes it creak, and I had no idea it was waking me up so much! It was pulling me out of my deep sleep quite a bit, so now we need to figure that out to make a more quieter sleep for me.  At the bottom you can see where it discusses risks. It even tracks your Sleep Apnea! I do have it it seems, for 30 seconds at a time but not often. I need to lose weight, but who doesn't?

I'm not going to purchase this application, and I may go ahead and shut it down. It does make mistakes that can cause some false recordings. My daughter sleeps with me sometimes and it was mistaking her whines, whimpers, and so on for me. I also don't like that it records all night which can cause major problems on your cell phone battery. If you keep it plugged in, and use it at the same time for too long you can cause your battery max power to go down. But for those who really like the scientific form of Sleep assistance, I say go for it!
